A high-tech firm based in Sunderland has announced plans to expand to meet the growing demand from motor manufacturers both in the local area and across the UK.
AR Controls which was formed six years ago and currently employs 37 people, but that’s set to expand to around 50 when it opens its brand new purpose-built premises in the area which should be within the 12 to 18 months.
AR Controls uses innovative robotics technology to supply services to a range of auto manufacturers including Nissan and Jaguar Land Rover. Once the new premises are complete its floorspace will jump from 18 to 30 thousand square feet.
The company says its growth shows that predictions of the death of the UK car industry are wide of the mark. Managing Director Andrew Ramsey said, “Despite many negative projections about the UK’s automotive manufacturing sector, the growth our business has seen over the last two years is incredibly positive and I’m tremendously excited about the future.”
AR Controls works with leading automation companies across the world in areas such as sensing, position control, machine safety, robotics and programmable logic control.
